For around four years, Carol Rogers and her daughter-in-law Amber have been living in storage units and low-cost motels when they could afford it.

Rogers and her family lived as “nomads” after her husband of 37 years died, and they could no longer live in the home they rented because it didn’t meet city safety codes.

With the help of the nonprofit organization Community Link, the Rogers were able to move into an apartment just before Thanksgiving.
Community Link operates one of the largest food pantries in Tarrant County and also provides assistance with housing, credit repair, employment searches, avoiding eviction and mental health counseling.

They hope their four-year nightmare is over.
