Darwin Payne, a former Dallas Times Herald reporter and professor emeritus at Southern Methodist University, was one of the first reporters on scene covering the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 23, 1963. Now, 60 years later, Payne, 86, reflects on his experience being on scene at Dealey Plaza covering that fateful day in his book, “Behind the Scenes: Covering the JFK Assassination.”

Grover Castro Tiburcio, a CSUN alumnus who majored in music education, traded his original mariachi charro jacket with Dodgers relieving pitcher Joe Kelly in late June. Kelly later wore the charro jacket when the Dodgers visited the White House the following week to commemorate their 2020 World Series Championship win.
